TATTERSAL SKY IN FALL

TATTERSAL SKY
I have been trying to post this since Veterans Day when I wrote it.  I tried every day.  Finally, today, the computer glitch is fixed (I hope).  It has snowed and changed so much since the pretty day I show here.

Weavers were at work on a tattersal sky.  I snapped a few pictures as I watched the patterns emerge.
MORE PLAID IN A DIFFERENT PART OF THE SKY
It was warm today, but the wind was strong.  I was outside doing a few things in the yard and tucking some of my plants in for the season.  As I tried to put leaves in chicken wire cages around my Christopher Marlowe rose and the crepe myrtles to keep them cozy in coldest days, the wind kept blowing the leaves away before I could get them stuffed into their chicken wire cages.
PINK KNOCKOUT ROSES
The last blooms of the season for the Pink Knockout Roses were really showing off.  They were the prettiest that they have been since very early summer.  Or, maybe they just look more beautiful because they are in their final days.
ORNAMENTAL SWEET POTATOES
The ornamental sweet potato vines created some ornamental sweet potatoes.  I researched to see if this type of sweet potato was edible and according to most of the info that I read, it doesn't have a good flavor because it is bitter.  I may keep these sweet potatoes over winter to see if they will sprout into plants in spring.

Marigolds are still bright and cheery, even with the persimmon tree sprout with its coppery bronze leaves growing amongst them.

There are bright green carrot tops in a container.  I never did get around to thinning those seedlings.  No more carrots from my container this year it seems.

Many of the persimmons have already fallen from the trees.  The trees were so full of persimmons this year that the weight of them broke down one of the branches this summer.  A few persimmons always stay on the tree and make freeze dried fruit snacks for the birds as the weather becomes colder.

POTENTIAL "PERSIM-YUM" TREAT FOR A STARLING
Yesterday was the last day of gardening this season (except for some bulb planting).  Today was Veterans day, and it seems that a switch has been flipped.  It was cold and cloudy today and will be well below freezing tonight.

NEIGHBOR'S MAPLE AND FLAG
This was my final photo for the outdoor garden season.  A neighbor's home.  The way the light was showing through the red leaves of the tree and onto the flag seemed right for Veterans Day.

  1. I'm glad to see your glitch is fixed! Lovely photos of the last of the garden and the tattersal sky. I love the hanging persimmons. I still have bulbs to plant, too. My shipment arrived only 2 weeks ago and then we got a freeze that kept me inside. Hopefully tomorrow......Glad you are back. xo Karen
