A QUICK POST

This is going to be a quick post.  I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year while the year is still new.

This evening I finally put a picture in my header.  I've been blogging since August 2012.  Procrastinate much?  Yes, I do.

We had a very nice holiday season around here.  My husband retired as of December 1.  We are adjusting to it pretty well, except most days both of us have to think about it to figure out the day, and date, and the weeks go by so quickly that it is amazing.  My husband worked nights for more than thirty years, so our night owl life style has remained the same, but may slip into more normal hours after a few more months.

I usually like to show a lot of pictures on my posts, but after doing the header picture, my picture-posting brain is now slightly frazzled, so I'll let that go this evening.

Even though I haven't been posting here, I have been enjoying many others' blogs.

2016 hasn't had any of its shiny, newness worn off yet.  So many possibilities await us!

  1. Happy New Year to you also. "I don't blog that much as I can't think of all those different things that they blog about. Takes me to long to get my normal work done around the house and if I don't feel great then it's put off until the next day. I love being retired. I don't know how I had time to work LOL.

Have a great week and like you pretty header.

  2. Hey, my friend...congratulations on the retirement! Yes, I should think it will take a while to find exactly the right daily routine...maybe as the days get longer and lighter it will gradually work around. Nice to think you can enjoy the coming Spring together, with time to savor it.
I like your header..such a pretty -cactus,- is it?
Happy New Year to you, I wonder what it will hold!?

  6. Susie wish you the best 2016. My husband semi-retired a couple of years ago. It isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Ha. Thank you for your kind comment about my Midge cat. Just too much sickness of late. Dog, cat and husband. Hope the new year brings health.

  7. Happy New year to you too Susie. My husband has been retired for 22 years now but the first 6 months were very difficult. It took us at least that time to adjust and for him to find his place in the home. Glad to say it all worked out well in the end.

  13. I know several who've retired end of December this year. I almost wish John were, too but we both feel it's too soon yet. And it does give me time to scrimp and save a bit harder, so there is that, lol. I hope you two enjoy the time and that you don't find yourself too busy to enjoy it!

  14. Dearest Susie,
No, we've never ever cut the foliage of our daffodils back so that should not be the problem that they're not blooming at all... It is sad as there are masses of them.
    Hugs,
    Mariette
