VALENTINE SPARKLE AND SHINE

Here are some Valentine vignettes made from "finds" that came from Goodwill last week.

Strawberries in this heart-shaped silver plated bowl.  I also used two little Christmas doves that I've had for a few years.

The little red heart-shaped glass vase is actually just red painted glass.   It was a little bit of a fooler.  At the store I rubbed my fingernail on the bottom of it to see if the red scratched off.  It didn't.  However, when I got home and washed it, the red color started to peel off immediately in the detergent and water.

The turquoise glass "spire" is probably a Christmas tree topper, but I think it is pretty, so in my vignettes I put it with the other items I found that day at Goodwill. I don't know if anyone else will think that it goes with the other items, but I think it seems to make the red and silver "pop".  My "magpie nature", I suppose.  I plan on using this turquoise glass spire out in my flower bed this summer.  It should look pretty in the impatiens or white allysum. Do you see that big juicy sugar-coated strawberry in front of the red vase?  Well not for long, I ate it as soon as this picture was snapped. It was delicious!

This little milk glass candy dish has a small heart-shaped cutout scalloped top edge   I collect milk glass, so this was a cute find for fifty cents.  It was the first time that I have been thrift shopping at Goodwill.  Do they always have seasonal merchandise on display, or was I just having great Valentine-motif hunting luck that day? It may have been my first time to this store, but it won't be my last.  I keep thinking about some of the things that I didn't buy, and wish now that I would have.

Have a great week and a lovely St. Valentine's Day!

  5. Love these sweet vignettes. Thanks for stopping by and for your nice comment. BTW, I love persimmons! My favorite fruit that I enjoy for Thanksgiving and Christmas, then they disappear for a whole year. I'd love to have a tree but they are huge, I have a postage stamp for a yard. xo
