THE CROSS ROOM

THE CROSS ROOM

The young man was at the end of his rope.  Seeing no way out, he dropped to his knees in prayer.

"Lord, I can't go on,"  he said, "I have too heavy a cross to bear."

The Lord replied, "My son, if you can't bear its weight, just place your cross
inside this room.  Then open that other door and pick out any cross you wish".

The man was filled with relief.  "Thank You, Lord," he sighed, and he did as he was told.

Upon entering the other door, he saw many crosses.  Some were so large the tops were not visible.  Then he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall.

"I'd like that one, Lord," he whispered.

And the Lord replied, "My son, that is the cross you just brought in."

I found this in my Church Bulletin from 1995.
It may be a story that everyone has seen a million times,
but it was, and is again, new to me.
In 1995, and now, it gave me pause for thought.
When I came home from church, I put it away and kept it.
I just found it again a few days ago and I thought that I might post it.
After I found the perfect cross image to go with it at another blogger's site,
I knew that I was meant to post it.
It did not have an author's name on it.

The beautiful image of a cross with pansies came with permisson from
Pam @ House of Hawthornes.
Thank you, Pam!

I hope everyone will enjoy a lovely, sunny, Easter!

Rejoice!

  4. It is a vary lovely story that I have not heard before. I know we often think our cross is unbearable, but you know He will never give us more than we can handle. I pray you have a blessed resurrection holiday!
    Blessings,
